Diamond Hair Salon and Apartments includes adaptive reuse and exterior and interior renovation of the two-story masonry building. Former upholstery shop with garages, storage, workrooms, and residences on the second floor is now a multi-use building that includes a ground floor retail area, a new hair salon, two garages, and multiple residential units on the second floor.

New Hair Salon interior layout provides space for employee work stations, kitchenette, waiting areas, office, and storage spaces. Creative lighting scheme with flexible lighting controls gives the owner various options for creating various mood environments, while remaining cost efficient and Energy Code compliant.

Through exhaustive code analysis, Lang and Lang Architects was able to design multiple apartment units on the second floor with minimal demolition and new construction, resulting in substantial cost savings. Interior renovations based on Lang and Lang Architects proposed design was by far less expensive than complete demolition presented to the owner by others, while still providing the same number of dwelling units, retail, and garage areas.
